DECKHAND® S

Small, versatile, and packed with features.

  • Head Unit mounts to ANY BRAND of excavator in 18-20 metric ton range. (Common examples: Caterpillar models 318 and 320.)
  • In-Cab display allows operator to safely monitor and adjust all functions, working parameters, and hydraulic settings from inside the excavator or prime mover.
  • Designed with load holding valves so that pipe is held securely regardless of hydraulic pressure.
  • Utilizes the auxiliary hydraulic circuit on excavator or prime mover.
  • Tilts 0 to 25 degrees along main beam.
  • Shifts pipe side to side up to 5.5"
 

Easy Installation

  1. Adjust DECKHAND® S's adjustable pin distance and diameter to brand and class of excavator.
  2. Quick couple the DECKHAND® S's two auxiliary hydraulic hoses (pressure and case drain hoses) to the excavator's auxiliary circuit.
  3. Replace the excavator's control handles with provided DECKHAND® S's control handles. This is done by simply unscrewing the manufacturer's control handles and screwing on the DECKHAND's® control handles. Add electrical power to the unit by simply clipping the positive and negative lead to the excavator's batteries and you're ready to work!

Applications

Pipeline Contractors and Pipe Fitting

  • Lowering pipe into trench
    • When multiple DECKHANDs® are used in successions at one time. DECKHAND functions are designed to float allowing excavators to work in unison.
    • DECKHAND® allows contractors to grab pipe and lower it into trench without having to use straps. This reduces manpower and keeps personnel out of trenches.
  • Tie-In
    • Utility arms maintain six points of contact all the way around the circumference of the pipe. This allows for a solid grip in tight areas.
    • Utility Arms can be used as a line up clamp. When Using DECKHAND with dual shift capabilities contractors can center and pull two joints of pipe together for welding.
  • Welding pipe
    • Use the Utility Arms to set pipe for welding. Side shift function allows operator to shift pipe into position for weld.
